If you haven’t heard, or rubbed shoulders with, ‘fuel poverty’, then you’re one of the few lucky ones. On average, the British consumer is spending over 10% of their income on energy bills. Sounds a little unfair considering energy is as necessary to our daily lives as air!
If you feel like you’re paying way more than you could be for the same electricity and gas, then switching suppliers, or even changing tariffs with your current supplier are both a good idea.
Save Money: Switching to a fixed price tariff protects you against price rises in the future, which might save you hundreds of pounds. If you were already on a fixed price tariff, you’ll want to take a note of the end date of your contract, as many energy providers automatically switch you to their most expensive tariff once your existing contract is up.
Get Better Help: It’s no novelty to have your energy supply run questionably low, or cut out altogether. But that’s not the worst thing- not getting the appropriate help definitely is! If customer service has let you down time and time again, then it may be time to switch to a provider that values your time and money.
Go Green: If you care about the environment, then switching to a green tariff where 100% of the energy is sourced from natural resources like wind and solar is the way to go. Not all providers offer this option, so you may have to switch.
